NUEW delegation participates at International Women’s Conference

Asmara, 21 October 2021- Senior Eritrean women delegation led by Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael, President of the National Union of Eritrean Women, participated at the Third International Women’s Conference held in St. Petersburg, Russia, from 13 to 15 October under the theme “Strengthening Global Alliance and Economic Development”.

At the conference in which over 100 leaders of women associations and organizations from African, Middle Eastern, European and Asian countries took part, the discussion was conducted on the role of women in developing societies and the world, improving the lives of women, enabling women to become beneficiaries of modern technology with a view to improving their economic status, strengthening contribution of women in investment and cooperation, as well as experience of countries and global organizations on issues of women. Statement released in connection with International Women’s Day

Asmara, 07 March 2020- Equitable outlook on women is essential in the development of society. The comment was made by the statement released by the National Union of Eritrean Women in connection with 8 March, International Women’s Day.

Indicating that the vision of the NUEW is to realize equitable development of the society, the statement called for nurturing conscious society that combats any eventuality that derails the socio-economic development. Read more

Seminar to Central Committee members of NUEW

Asmara, 21 December 2019- Mr. Alamin Mohammed-Seid, Secretary of the PFDJ, conducted seminar to members of the Central Committee of the National Union of Eritrean Women focusing on the objective situation in the homeland.

Indicating that Eritrea since 2017 is working by establishing three Development Fronts inside the country and one in the Diaspora, Mr. Alamin said that the big development programs that are expected to be accomplished by 2020 include roads construction, ensuring supply of potable water and electricity power as well as construction of residential houses. NUEW Executive Committee holds 11th regular meeting

Asmara, 18 December 2019- The National Union of Eritrean Women Executive Committee conducted its 11th regular meeting on 16 and 17 December in Asmara.

At the meeting in which members of the executive committee from inside the country and abroad took part, report was presented focusing on the activities conducted in 2019, achievements registered and challenges encountered.

According to the report presented the activities conducted in 2019 include the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the union, effort to increase awareness of women, strengthening organizational capacity, recruiting  young women to the union, as well as promotional activities to eradicate harmful practices that are affecting the development of women. Commemoration of 40th anniversary in Central region concludes

Asmara, 29 November 2019- Commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the National Union of Eritrean Women that was underway in various sub-zones in the Central region concluded at a ceremony held today, 29 November at the Expo Compound.

The ceremony was attended by Government and PFDJ officials, members of the diplomatic community as well as representatives of national associations and invited guests. Read more
