Thousands Of Eritreans Residing Abroad Flocking To Homeland To Participate In Independence Day Celebrations

Asmara, 7 May 2011 – Thousands of Eritrean nationals residing abroad are flocking to the Homeland to participate in the 20th anniversary of Independence Day celebrations.

According to travel agencies and airlines, more than 1,000 Eritreans from Europe, USA, Canada, the Middle East and other countries have arrived in Asmara in the last 3 days alone through the airlines of Lufthansa, Yemen, Egypt and NASAIR-ERITREA.

The arrivals told ERINA that a number of Eritrean compatriots are flocking to the Homeland to participate in the celebrations. They further explained that this year’s Independence Day is unique as it is being celebrated at a time when Eritrea manages to stand on solid ground thanks to the development accomplishments registered over the past 20 years.

The nationals noted that the visit would enable their children to get familiarized with the culture, identity and history of the nation, in addition to personally witnessing development achievements.
