Press Statement on US Travel Ban

The US Administration issued a Press Statement on Friday, January 31st this week, putting Eritrea in the second tier of countries for which “overseas issuance of immigrant visas is suspended” for certain of “their nationals”.

The GOE has consistently opposed “automatic asylum” and other misguided measures invoked by certain countries in the past 20 years for ulterior reasons of “strategic depopulation” against Eritrea.  The GOE had in fact lodged legitimate protests against previous US Administrations that followed similar policies in 2004 and 2009 respectively. Asmara, 03 September 2019- Ms. Fauzia Hashim, Minister of Justice, conducted seminar on 1 September to Eritrean nationals in Washington DC and its environs on the objective situation in the homeland as well as regional developments and the timely responsibility of nationals in the new era of peace and cooperation.

Minister Fauzia gave extensive briefing on the strong resilience, perseverance and unity the Eritrean people demonstrated in the past 20 years in preserving independence and safeguarding the national sovereignty. Minister Fauzia also called on nationals in the Diaspora to reinforce organizational capacity, commitment and contribution in realizing sustainable national development in the unfolding new era. Eritrean community festival in USA

Asmara, 12 August 2019 – The Annual Eritrean community festival in the US was enthusiastically conducted in San Jose city, California, from 9-11 August, report indicates.

At the festival that was officially opened by the Minister of Justice Ms. Fauzia Hashem, on 9 August was attended by thousands of nationals as well as friends of Eritrea.The three-day festival highlighted seminars on the objective situation in the homeland and regional developments, workshops, as well as cultural and artistic performances.

The occasion featured artistic performances by Eritrean American comedian Tiffany Hadish, Eritrean American sisters, ‘Eri-Am Sisters’, a cultural troupe from Eritrea as well as other renowned artists.

Asmara, 7 August 2019 – The National Council of Eritrean Americans’ annual conference was enthusiastically opened on Wednesday, 7 August. The conference was continuing till today in the Bay Area, California under the themes “Consolidating our Future” and “Resilience for Higher Progress”.

The Conference was officially opened by Minster of Justice, Ms. Fauzia Hashim, Eritrean Embassy representative in the US, and NCEA Leadership. The conference was being attended by more than 500 attendants. Read more
