Asmara inscribed UNESCO World Heritage

Asmara, 10 July 2017- At the 41 Session of the World Heritage Committee that took place on 7 July in Karkow, Poland, in which the President of Poland, Mr. Andrzej Duda and Irene Bokova, Director General of UNESCO, Ministers and high level officials as well as more than 1000 governmental and non-governmental representatives took part Asmara was inscribed UNESCO World heritage. Interview with Eng Medhanie Teklemaryam, Asmara Heritage Project Cordinator

The scientific committee ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) has already approved and passed it on to UNESCO says Eng. Medhanie – this is credit to the people involved in the project with 85 thousand archives scanned at Asmara municipality, 4300 buildings mapped measured to the last inch producing nomination dossier of 1400 pages long which is costly and complex.
