President Isaias carries out official visit to Sudan

Asmara, 14 September 2019 – President Isaias Afwerki, carries out a 2-day official visit to the Sudan on the invitation of Lt. Gen. Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, President of Sudan’s Sovereign Council. The president met and held discussions with the leadership of the Sudan on bilateral relations, regional developments and other issues of common interest.

At the meeting President Isaias Afwerki conducted with Lt. Gen. Abdul Fattah al-Burhan in the morning hours of today, President of Sudan’s Sovereign Council, Lt. Gen. Abdul Fattah thanked President Isaias for his long-awaited visit and expressed readiness to enhance all-round cooperation and relations between the two countries. Read more

Asmara, 29 August 2019 – Nationals residing in the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan conducted various activities depicting their attachment with their homeland on 22 and 25 August, report indicated.

At a seminar conducted to nationals residing in Juba, the Republic of South Sudan, Ambassador of Eritrea to that country Mr. Yohannes Teklemicael gave extensive briefing on the heroic feat the Eritrean people demonstrated during the struggle for independence and safeguarding the national sovereignty and on the challenges encountered. Eritrea’s delegation met President of Sudan’s Sovereign Council

Asmara, 22 August 2019 – Eritrea’s high delegation composed of Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Adviser Yemane Gebreab met and held talks with the President of Sovereign Council of Sudan Gen. Abdul Fattah al-Burhan today, 22 August, in Khartoum.

At a meeting conducted at a State House in Khartoum, the Eritrean delegation delivered a message of President Isaias Afwerki congratulating the people of Sudan on a historic achievement which will contribute to advancing bilateral ties and regional cooperation.

President Abdul Fattah al-Burhan stated that consolidating ties with Eritrea is a cornerstone of Sudanese foreign policy. He added that Sudan will closely coordinate with Eritrea to strengthen regional cooperation.

Eritrea’s delegation also met Prime Minister of Sudan’s Transitional Government Dr. Abdalla Hamdok. The two sides stressed their readiness to benefit from vast opportunities created by positive changes in Sudan to develop comprehensive bilateral cooperation. The PM said that ending conflict and making peace was a key priority for Sudan and called for support from Eritrea and neighboring countries in Sudan’s new efforts.

It is to be recalled that Eritrea’s delegation composed of Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Adviser Yemane Gebreab met President of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Myardit in Juba yesterday, 21 August and delivered a message from President Isaias Afwerki focusing on measures for strengthening bilateral ties and mechanisms for regional integration.

President Isaias meets Deputy Chairman of Sudanese TMC

Asmara, 02 July 2019- President Isaias Afwerki today, 2 July met and held talks at the State House with Let. Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Daglo, Deputy Chairman of the Transitional Military Council of Sudan.

At the meeting, President Isaias underlined the responsibility of the Transitional Military Council and the support of the Government of Eritrea for the smooth and peaceful consummation of the transition process.
