Asmara, 12 May 2020- In continuation of the over six million Kroner they already contributed, Eritrean nationals residing in Scandinavian countries contributed additional over 300 thousand Kroner towards augmenting the National Fund to combat COVID-19 pandemic.

Accordingly, YPFDJ organization in Sweden contributed 65 thousand Kroner, PFDJ organization in Jonkoping 15 thousand Kroner, Eritrean community in Orebro 25 thousand Kroner, Mulue-Wengel Church in Stockholm 12 thousand Kroner, Eritrean community in Harnosand 11 thousand Kroner, Eritrean community in Boras 10 thousand Kroner, Eritrean community in Motala  14 thousand and 600 Kroner, Sinit Sund-Biberi association 10 thousand Kroner, Eritrean community in Jonkoping 8 thousand and 430 Kroner, Eritrean community in Lulea 2 thousand Kroner, Abore sanitation and nursing home 12 thousand Kroner, association of Eritrean friends in Stockholm 10 thousand Kroner, Gothenburg group against COVID-19 15 thousand Kroner, Eritrean community in Yarfela-Upland 20 thousand Kroner, Eritrean community in Onebi 5 thousand Kroner, national committee in Denmark 10 thousand Kroner and 65 children and youth in Norway also contributed 22 thousand and 500 Kroner. Eritrean community festival in Scandinavia concludes

Asmara, 30 July 2019 – The annual Eritrean community festival in the Scandinavian countries that was officially opened on 25 July by Presidential Adviser Mr. Yemane Gebreab was concluded enthusiastically on 28 July, the National Holidays Coordinating Committee stated.

The 21st annual festival in which over ten thousand nationals from all over Europe and Scandinavian countries as well as invited guests and friends of Eritrea took part, was highlighted by vocational workshops, cultural and artistic performances, exhibition as well as seminars regarding homeland objective situations and bazaars among others. Asmara, 27 July 2019- The annual Eritrean community festival in the Scandinavian countries is underway with patriotic zeal under the theme “Resilience for Higher Progress”. The festival was officially opened on 25 July by Presidential Adviser Mr. Yemane Gebreab.

At the opening ceremony in which a number of nationals from Sweden and various cities in the Scandinavian countries and friends of Eritrea took part, Mr. Alem Teklegiorgis, Chairman of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee, said that the 21st annual festival makes it unique for it is being conducted during the first anniversary of the peace and cooperation agreement signed between Eritrea and Ethiopia as well as on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the National Service Program. Asmara, 04 June 2019- Eritrean nationals in the Scandinavian countries have celebrated the 28th Independence Day anniversary with patriotic zeal under the theme “Resilience for Higher Progress.

The celebration conducted in the cities of Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Nuremburg, Uppsala, Orebro, Umea, Skara/Lidkoping, Uppsala, Kristianstad, Bergen, Helsinki and others was featured with various programs depicting the significance of the Independence Day. Read more

Activities by Eritrean nationals abroad

Asmara, 20 December 2018- Eritrean nationals in the Scandinavian countries and Austria have conducted various activities aimed at increasing participation in the national development drives. According to report, the Eritrean Embassy in the Scandinavian countries organized a discussion forum focusing the progress of the peace agreement between Eritrea and Ethiopia as well as the lifting of sanctions that was illegally imposed on Eritrea. The discussion forum was attended by representatives of Eritrean communities in the Scandinavian countries, officials from the Foreign Ministry of Sweden, members of African embassies in Sweden, as well as Eritrean friends and journalists.
