Barentu, 27 October 2011- In continuation of efforts to enhance communication service in Gash-Barka region, telephone lines are being installed in 10 villages, besides putting in place the necessary infrastructure of installing internet lines in Barentu, Agordat and Tessenei towns, stated Mr. Haile Asfaha, from the infrastructure unit in the region. President inspects progress of...

Asmara, 5 September 2011- President Isaias Afwerki conducted a tour of inspection of the progress which development projects have made in Gash-Barka and Southern Administrative regions.

In the course of the inspection tour in Gash-Barka, the President visited Bademit Micro-dam in Golij sub-zone that is under construction through Bidho Construction Company, during which he observed its construction process and the volume of water the micro-dam had impounded. Barentu, 24 August 2011- The Administrator of Gash-Barka region, Mr. Musa Rab’a, has called on associations of vegetable and dairy farmers to boost production, and thereby satisfy market demand.

In a meeting with representatives of the associations, Mr. Musa pointed out that the activities and outcome of such association has not made headway so far. Read more

Minister Observes Agricultural Programs...

Barentu, 10 June 2011-The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, conducted a tour in the sub-zones of Haikota, Tessenei and Golij to observe the progress of agricultural programs in Gash-Barka region.

The Minister visited the implementation of drip irrigation project in Alebu  at an expenditure of over 18 million Nakfa jointly by the Agriculture Ministry and partners. He also exchanged views with pertinent heads on the speedy finalization of the project.  Read more
