President holds talks with Chairman of Darfur Regional Authority

Asmara, 21 September 2012 – President Isaias Afwerki yesterday received and held talks with Dr. Altijani Asisi Mohammed, Chairman of the Darfur Regional Authority at the State House.

Dr. Altijani briefed the President regarding developments in Darfur, as well as the outcome of the implementation of the Doha Agreement, and lauded Eritrea’s role to this end.

President Isaias reiterated Eritrea’s support towards promoting peace and development, and called on political forces in Darfur and the people to play due role towards ensuring participatory political order in Sudan in view of the fact that the Darfur issue could not be viewed in isolation from other concerns in the country.

Dr. Altijani told Erina that Eritrea’s role in the implementation of the Doha Agreement was both decisive and of vital significance, and that he expects such role to continue for more gratifying outcome.
