National Festival 2013 opens officially in Dekemhare

Dekemhare, 17 August 2013 – National Festival 2013 was officially opened today in Dekemhare city in the presence of President Isaias Afwerki, Ministers, regional Administrators, Army Commanders, PFDJ Officials, heads of National Associations, religious leaders and numerous participants.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Efrem Gebrekristos, Administrator of the Southern region, pointed out that the event which is being conducted in the region is a good opportunity for regional and sub-zonal Administrations to depict their development accomplishments and resources.

He further noted its importance in promoting national unity vis-à-vis national and cultural values, besides the groundwork it provides for youths regarding creative ideas in connection with arts and technology.

The opening ceremony which was accompanied by the National Marching Band witnessed different shows by students and youths, cultural performances and dramas, among others.

Following the opening ceremony, President Isaias inaugurated the grounds for the event and made tour of it, during which he was accorded briefings by the coordinator.
