National Association of Tourism Service Institutions holds 3rd ConferenceAsmara, 10 July 2013 – The Association of National Tourism Service Institutions yesterday held 3rd Conference in Asmara. Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Solomon Abraha, Chairman of the Association, pointed out that stepped-up efforts were made towards reinforcing the Association’s organizational capacity.

Likewise, Mr. Abraham Michael, Secretary of the Association, presented a report pertaining to the accomplishment made, financial transactions and the prevailing challenges.

Also speaking at the Conference, the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Askalu Menkerios, explained that the government has been encouraging such institutions to work as an Association so as to attain effective work on the basis of synergism. She further called on the institutions to strive to render standardized service through adhering to the proclamations, regulations and guidelines thereof.

Ms. Askalu went on to explain that a number of nationals have shown interest to invest in the tourism sector in line with the new business prospects in the country, and that the government has been working with commitment to promote the quality of tourism services. Such move would ensure customers’ satisfaction vis-à-vis loss of market share on the part of uncompetitive businesses, the Minister added.

Moreover, the participants put forth views regarding several issues and elected a 31-member Managing Committee that would serve for 2 years.

The Association of National Tourism Service Institutions is administered on the basis of its own constitution and works under the umbrella of the Ministry of Tourism.
