International Youth Day observed

Asmara, 26 September 2018- International Youth Day was observed on 25 September here in Asmara under the theme “Safe Spaces for Youth”. The observance was organized in cooperation with the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students (NUEYS) and the UN office in Eritrea.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the NUEYS, Mr. Saleh Ahmedin called on the youth to demonstrate its driving force in the implementation of the national development drives. Mr. Saleh also commended the youth for its persistent participation in the implementation of the all round national development programs.

Representing the UN office in Eritrea, Mr. Ibrahim Sambuli, UNFPA Representative in Eritrea, called on all stakeholders and partners to play due part in creating conducive atmosphere for the youth so that they contribute their part in the political, economic, social and cultural activities.

The event was highlighted by cultural and artistic programs.

The International Youth Day is being observed for the third time at national level and for the 19th time at international level.
