Gash Barka region: Efforts being made to enhance communication service

Barentu, 27 October 2011- In continuation of efforts to enhance communication service in Gash-Barka region, telephone lines are being installed in 10 villages, besides putting in place the necessary infrastructure of installing internet lines in Barentu, Agordat and Tessenei towns, stated Mr. Haile Asfaha, from the infrastructure unit in the region.

He indicated that vigorous efforts are underway to enhance modern communication service in the region, in addition to the provision of telephone service to the villages of Deki-Shehay, Mekerka, Afhimbol, Forto-sawa, Tokombia, Awgaro, Aderede, Shambuko, Molqi and Maeloba.

He further explained that the installation of telephone lines would be finalized by the end of this year, and go operational in all parts of Gash-Barka region.

One of the local inhabitants, Mr. Alhaj Yacob, said that satisfactory outcome has been registered in the communication sector, and expressed satisfaction with the efforts made to enhance communication service in the region.
