Eritrea Officially Recognizes Republic Of South Sudan As Independent And Sovereign State

Asmara, 11 July 2011 – Eritrea has officially recognized the Republic of South Sudan as an independent and sovereign state. Accordingly, the two countries signed an agreement in Juba city to exchange Ambassadors.

The agreement was singed by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh on the Eritrean side and Mr. Deng Alor Kuol, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on the side of the Republic of South Sudan.

It is to recalled that the Republic of South Sudan was declared on 9 July 2011.
