Eritrea: Hope Of The Horn

The victory over the Nadew Command is considered by the historian Basil Davidson to be the most significant victory for any liberation movement since the Vietnamese victory at Dien Bien Phu. It has also been described as the largest battle in Africa since El Alamein.

Revealing this heroic victory of the EPLF over the Derg regime, historian Basil Davidson, wrote an article titled ‘Eritrea: hope of the horn’ back in 1988 after the demise of the Nadew command. On the occasion of the silver jubilee of the demise of the Nadew command and the liberation of the town of Afabet, Eritrea profile is publishing the full text of the article published in periodicals of Basil Davidson.
