Director General’s Statement at Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Science and Technology: Addressing Current and Emerging Development Challenges

Good morning, Your Royal Highness,
Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen.
I am very pleased to welcome you all to this IAEA Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Science and Technology, the first of its kind to be held at ministerial level.
Since the IAEA was established in Vienna in 1957, we have helped to improve the health and prosperity of millions of people by making nuclear science and technology available for generating electricity and fighting cancer, in food and agriculture, in industry and many other areas.
In Vienna, the IAEA is often associated with our work to curb the spread of nuclear weapons. Media coverage focusses on our activities concerning the nuclear programmes of Iran and North Korea. Read more

Asmara, 01 December 2018- China Alumni Association has been established today 01 December at a ceremony held at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.
The objective of the establishment of the association was to bring together all graduating Eritrean returnees from the People’s Republic of China and work hand in hand with the embassy of the PRC in Eritrea in various fields. Read more

Asmara, 30 November 2018- The annual Eritrean community festival in Riyadh was conducted from 28 to 30 November under the theme “The Unwarranted Sanctions: Foiled through Steadfastness and Resilience”. The festival was officially opened by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh on 28 November.

Minister Osman Saleh accompanied by Ms. Weini Gerezgiher, Charge d’Affairs at the Eritrean Embassy in Riyadh, Col. Melake Teklemariam, Chief of Staff of the Eritrean Navy, and other Embassy officials visited photo, cultural artifacts and innovation exhibitions staged by the students of the Eritrean International School in Riyadh and members of the YPFDJ. More diplomatic activities by Eritrean nationals in Diaspora

Asmara, 29 November 2018- Eritrean nationals residing in the Republic of South Sudan, South Africa and Southern African countries, Switzerland and Italy conducted various activities reflecting their attachment with their homeland.

According to report, Mr. Yohannes Tesfamicael, Eritrean Ambassador to South Sudan, met and held talks with the South Sudan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nyal Deng Nyal on the development of bilateral relations between the two countries. Read more

مجلس الامن وارتريا ما أسباب فرض ورفع...

مجلس الامن وارتريا
ما أسباب فرض ورفع العقوبات ؟!

أصدر مجلس الامن في 14 نوفمبر 2018 وبالإجماع القرار رقم 2444 ورفع بموجبه العقوبات غير القانونية وغير العادلة التي فرضها على ارتريا في 23 ديسمبر 2009 عبر قراره المشؤوم رقم 1907. وقبل الحديث عن الاسباب الحقيقية وراء رفع العقوبات عن ارتريا، من الاهمية بمكان التذكير بالأسباب الي صاغها مجلس الامن لفرض ورفع العقوبات.

أولاـ أسباب فرض العقوبات
تتلخص هذه الاسباب في نقطة واحدة وهي كما ورد في نص القرار رقم 1907
” تقدم ارتريا دعما سياسيا وماليا ولوجستيا لجماعات مسلحة تعمل لتقويض السلام والمصالحة في الصومال والاستقرار في المنطقة.”

ثانياـ الاسباب الصورية لرفع العقوبات
ورد في قرار مجلس الامن رقم 244 ” رفع الحظر المفروض على الاسلحة وحظر السفر وتجميد الارصدة والجزاءات المستهدفة المفروضة على ارتريا.”ويحدد القرار سببين اساسيين لرفع العقوبات عن ارتريا وهما
