Ambassador Yohannes holds talks with South Sudan officials

Asmara, 15 February 2019- The Eritrean Ambassador to the Republic of South Sudan, Mr. Yohannes Teklemicael held talks on 13 February with President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Deng Dau Deng Malek.

At the meeting held in Juba, President Salva Kiir and Ambassador Yohannes discussed on the progress of the understanding reached between President Isaias Afwerki and Presidents Salva Kiir during his official visit to Eritrea in August 2018. Read more

Eritrean national cultural troupe departed to Ethiopia

Asmara, 14 February 2019- Eritrean national cultural troupe comprising Sibrit and other legendary and young musicians and singers departed to Ethiopia today, 14 February, to perform musical concert in various Ethiopian cities.

According to Mr. Micael Teferi, coordinator of the cultural troupe, objective of the program is to celebrate the peace and friendship agreement signed and to develop cultural relations between the two countries. Mr. Micael also said that similar programs will be organized in the future.

The tour will cover the cities of Bahir-Dar, Adama, Hawassa, and Addis Ababa, from 14 – 24 February.

Eritrean cultural troupes tour to Ethiopia

Asmara, 05 February 2019- Eritrean cultural troupes comprising Sibrit and other legendary and young musicians and singers are scheduled to perform in various Ethiopian cities. According to the schedule, the group will perform in Bahr-Dar on 16 February, 17 February in Adama, 19 February in Hawassa and on 21 February in Addis Ababa. In all the performances, the Eritrean cultural troupes will be joined by renowned Ethiopian singers and musicians.

Workshop to strengthen Police cooperation in Eastern Africa

Asmara, 30 January 2019- A three-day workshop aimed at strengthening International and Regional Police Cooperation in Eastern Africa organized in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Eritrea, IGAD and Interpol commenced today, 30 January, at Asmara Palace.

Speaking at the opening event, Col. Mehari Tsegai, Commander of the Eritrean Police, said that no country in the world is immune from crime and that the East African region is facing with challenges and threats, including human trafficking and smuggling of migrants, drug and small arm trafficking etc. Read more

Government of Eritrea sends message of condolences

Asmara, 16 January 2019- The Government of Eritrea has condemned the heinous and cowardly attack perpetrated in Nairobi. In a letter to Ambassador Monica Kathina Juma, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Osman Saleh conveyed message of condolences to the Government and people of Kenya. Minister Osman also wished speedy recovery to the wounded.

Foreign Minister Osman Saleh expressed Eritrea’s resolve and commitment to support Kenya’s relentless all rounded effort to eradicate terrorism from its land and neighboring Somalia.
