Efforts underway to reduce illiteracy rate

Asmara, 17 February 2012 – Vigorous efforts are under way to reduce the illiteracy rate in the country, Mr. Gebrezgi Demam, Director General of Adult Education and Media in the Education Ministry disclosed.

Comparing with previous human resources, he explained that there was no enough education material for illiteracy eradication in the past and indicted that currently enough material is available, and that there is expectation for commendable outcome. Read more

Sehnaoui: Jamming of Arabsat coming from Ethiopia

February 16, BEIRUT – Preliminary investigations into the jamming of Arabsat satellite transmission shows that it is originating from Ethiopia, Telecommunications Minister Nicolas Sehnaoui said Wednesday, calling on Arabsat’s operator to secure new frequencies for its transmission in Lebanon.

“Arabsat told us that the source of the jamming is Ethiopia and it handed us a copy of their complaint they have passed to Ethiopian authorities on this matter,” said Sehnaoui. Read more

Asmara, February 2012- Eritrean citizens living in Zurich, Switzerland, conducted rebuff meeting on February 12.Mr. Sleshi Idris, head of public and community affairs in Switzerland, gave extensive briefing on the objective situation in the Homeland and the region, as well as development activities in the Homeland.

Indicating that the conspiracies against the people and Government of Eritrea are designed to undermine the unity of the people and the nation, they noted that such conspiracies would as ever be foiled through united rebuff.
