Legendary footballer Italo Vassalo passed away

Asmara, 31 July 2021- The legendary footballer Italo Vassalo passed away on 30 July at the age of 80 due to illness. Italo Vassalo who was one of Eritrea’s football stars in the 60s and 70s has collected many trophies with the then Hamasien Football Club and Eritrean National Team. He was also one of the eight Eritrean footballers in the Ethiopian National team that was African Champion in 1962. Read more

Senior Eritrean delegation met Sudanese Prime Minister

Asmara, 30 July 2021- Senior Eritrean delegation comprising Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Presidential Advisor Mr. Yemane Gebreab met with Mr. Abdalla Hamdok, Prime Minister of Sudan today, 30 July.

The two sides held frank and extensive discussions on bilateral ties as well as current regional developments. They also stressed the need for the countries of the region to work together to overcome internal and external challenges.

Spices and condiments in the form of dried seed, fruit, root, bark or vegetable make up an important part in horticulture. They have been used for a variety of purposes such as to enhance food and beverages by improving flavor, aroma and color; to make medicine and perfumes; as preservatives by preventing the growth of harmful bacteria; and in religious rituals.

Spices also play quite a significant role in the national economy of a country by generating hard currency. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the top five spices producer countries in the world are India, China, Turkey, Bangladesh and Indonesia. Read more

Hamelmalo Agricultural College on its 14th Commencement

Hamelmalo Agricultural College (HAC) graduated 807 students on 15th July at its 14th graduation ceremony held on campus. The ceremony, which had to be kept simple due to the Covid-19 pandemic, was attended by few representative students and instructors by following Covid-19 guidelines.

The college has been producing agronomists in a variety of specializations, promoting research to help maximize production and giving farmers consultancy service, including introducing them to technology. Read more
