PM Abiy toured agricultural development projects

Asmara, 19 July 2020 – Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Dr. Abiy Ahmed and his delegation today, 19 July toured agricultural development projects in the environs of Kerkebet Dam in Gash Barka Region.

The Prime Minister and his delegation were accompanied by President Isaias Afwerki and senior Government officials during the visit.The delegation also inspected, during their stop-over at Sawa Airport, graduation-parade rehearsals of the 33rd Round of the National Service. Read more

Contribution to augment National Fund

Asmara, 17 July 2020- Communities and owners of businesses extended financial contribution to the effort to combat COVID-19 pandemic. Accordingly, Cathedral kindergarten contributed 8 thousand and 167 Nakfa, Yordanos shop 5 thousand and other small businesses, cooperative associations and individuals contributed a total of 41 thousand Nakfa. In related news, residents of the sub-zones of Adi-Keih and Dubarwa, Southern region, extended financial and food items to disadvantaged citizens in their areas. Read more

Six COVID-19 patients who had been receiving necessary medical treatment in hospitals in the Northern Red Sea Region have recovered fully and were released from these facilities today.
This brings the number of recovered patients to 155. The total number of confirmed cases in the country to-date is 251.

19 patients were diagnosed positive for COVID-19 in tests carried out in Quarantine Centers in Gash Barka and Southern Region respectively today. Out of the aggregate cases, 15 were quarantined in the environs of Adibara; 2 in Gergef; 1 in Ali-Gidir, Gash Barka Region; and the last one in Senafe, Southern Region. All are nationals who returned from Sudan and Ethiopia through irregular land routes recently. On the other hand, 42 patients have recovered fully and were released from hospitals in Gash Barka (37), Southern Region (4) and Central Region (1). The total number of confirmed cases in the county has now risen to 251. 149 of these have recovered fully and were released periodically from the respective hospitals while the remaining 102 continue to receive necessary medical treatment.

Contribution to augment National and Martyrs Trust Funds

Asmara, 13 July 2020- Nationals in the Scandinavian countries contributed over 260 thousand Kroner to augment the National Fund to contain the spread of corona virus and Martyrs Trust Fund.

According to the Eritrean Embassy in the Scandinavian countries, ‘Eri Tsinat’ Pal Talk Forum contributed 81 thousand Kroner in the name of the late Awelker Seid, former editor and coordinator of the forum, the National Holidays Coordinating Committee in the Scandinavian countries 50 thousand and 100 Kroner in the name of the late Berhane Tilahun, former cahier of the committee,  residents of Ockelbo 6 thousand Kroner, national committee in Denmark 7 thousand Kroner and one national contributed 6 thousand Kroner.
