STATEMENT OF H.E. MR. OSMAN SALEH MOHAMMED MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE STATE OF ERITREA
DURING THE GENERAL DEBATE OF THE 74TH SESSION UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY, New York 30 September 2019
Mr. President; Mr. Secretary-General;
Heads of State and Governments; Distinguished delegates;
The current United Nations General Assembly meeting is occurring at a very auspicious time for the Horn of Africa. Positive developments are underway in the region. The sad, painful chapter of domestic turmoil and regional conflicts is giving way to new vistas of internal resurgence and regional cooperation.
In global terms, this is a sensitive and delicate period, when the world is at a crossroads; on the cusp of a new world order, so to speak.
All vital parameters indicate that the unipolar world order has come to an end or is in its twilight years. The economic power balance is inexorably changing, with a spike in attendant, intense rivalries and upheavals. In the event, the current UN General Assembly session cannot but grapple with these issues and chart out viable paths on the way forward. Read more

Asmara, 30 September 2019 – 27 September, World Tourism Day was observed on 29 September at a national level in Aba Shawul sub zone, Central region, under a theme “Tourism and Jobs: A Better Future for All”.
Speaking at the occasion, the D.G. of Tourism Service in the Central region, Ms. Liya Gebreab stated that the World Tourism Day reminds for proper and responsible way of practicing and preserving national culture and values as well as resources and heritage for the economic, social and environmental benefit to the present and future generations. Asmara, 26 September 2019 – Eritrean nationals residing in Abu Dhabi and its environs, UAE, and Juba, Republic of South Sudan organized seminars on the implementation of development programs.
According to report, at a seminar conducted to nationals in Abu Dhabi and its environs on 20 September, the Ambassador of Eritrea to the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Osman Mohammed-Omer gave extensive briefing on the charted out development programs and on the priorities given. Read more

Eritrea Signs its Second Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2019–2023
Abdulkadi Bakri Hamdan, Counsellor and Alternate Resident Representative, Permanent Mission of the State of Eritrea to the IAEA, and Dazhu Yang, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Eritrea’s Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2019–2023 on 19 September 2019. A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.
