Weki-Duba: Solar powered water project inaugurated

Asmara, 07 October 2019 – Solar powered potable water project worth over 3 million Nakfa was inaugurated yesterday, 6 October in Weki-Duba, Central region.

The project includes a solar power able to drill 30 barrels of water per hour, a reservoir, as well as pipelines and 4 water distribution stations.

At the inauguration ceremony, it was indicated that there has been acute water crisis in Weki-Duba and that with putting in place the new solar powered water project, the problem has been alleviated.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tesfu Fesshatsion, administrator of Berik sub zone noting the significance of clean water in the health and socio economic lives of nationals called on the public to properly use the project and follow-up of its sustainability. Read more

Eritrean community festival in Scandinavia concludes

Asmara, 30 July 2019 – The annual Eritrean community festival in the Scandinavian countries that was officially opened on 25 July by Presidential Adviser Mr. Yemane Gebreab was concluded enthusiastically on 28 July, the National Holidays Coordinating Committee stated.

The 21st annual festival in which over ten thousand nationals from all over Europe and Scandinavian countries as well as invited guests and friends of Eritrea took part, was highlighted by vocational workshops, cultural and artistic performances, exhibition as well as seminars regarding homeland objective situations and bazaars among others. Workshop on New Era in Horn of Africa and implication for China-Africa relation

Asmara, 30 July 2019- The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China organized a workshop today, 30 July on the new era of peace and cooperation in the Horn of Africa and its implications for China-Africa relations.

Speaking at opening event, Mr. Yang Zigang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Eritrea, said that China always insists a “four-uphold” approach in pursuing cooperation with Africa; uphold sincerity, friendship, equality and common interest and that the new era unfolding in the region will create favorable situation. Eritrean community festival in Scandinavia

Asmara, 27 July 2019- The annual Eritrean community festival in the Scandinavian countries is underway with patriotic zeal under the theme “Resilience for Higher Progress”. The festival was officially opened on 25 July by Presidential Adviser Mr. Yemane Gebreab.

At the opening ceremony in which a number of nationals from Sweden and various cities in the Scandinavian countries and friends of Eritrea took part, Mr. Alem Teklegiorgis, Chairman of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee, said that the 21st annual festival makes it unique for it is being conducted during the first anniversary of the peace and cooperation agreement signed between Eritrea and Ethiopia as well as on the eve of the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the National Service Program. Asmara, 26 July 2019- The 10th International Day of Nelson Mandela, the renowned anti-apartheid fighter and the first black president of the Republic of South Africa, was observed here in the capital Asmara.

At the program that was organized in cooperation with the UN Offices in Eritrea and partners at the Orotta Referral Hospital was highlighted by planting tree seedlings and a workshop focusing on the contribution of Nelson Mandela and the lesson the youth could learn. Read more
