Fourth round Shingrwa contest finalizes

Asmara, 30 December 2018- The fourth round 2017/2018 Shingrwa Academy contest finalized yesterday 29th December and was live broadcast on Eri-TV. At the fourth round Shingrwa contest that was conducted nationwide, a total of 660 contestants participated in three categories namely, singing, dancing and musical instrument.

At the ceremony conducted in Cinema Roma in the presence of Government officials and invited guests, Mr. Asmelash Abraha, Director General of Eri-TV stated that the fourth round Shingrwa contest lasted for 18 months and witnessed highest number of contestants ever and extensive cultural diversity was reflected. Press Release – Indian Ocean Newsletter: Yet another Wild Allegation

In its publication of 21 December, (No 1488), this month, the Indian Ocean Newsletter alleges that “the Ethiopian and Eritrean Presidents (sic?)  have indicated to their Somalian counterpart… their willingness to take over from AMISOM when it departs in 2021…..Eritrea is planning to dispatch 5,000 soldiers to Somalia as soon as the first AMISOM contingents leave in February”.

Asmara, 25 December 2018 – The National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) stated that it is exerting strong effort to empower women with education and vocational trainings with a view to enable them self-supportive. The comment was made during a seminar Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael conducted on 22 and 23 December with members of the members of the 32nd round National Service and students of the National Vocational Center in Sawa. Asmara, 20 December 2018- Eritrean nationals in the Scandinavian countries and Austria have conducted various activities aimed at increasing participation in the national development drives. According to report, the Eritrean Embassy in the Scandinavian countries organized a discussion forum focusing the progress of the peace agreement between Eritrea and Ethiopia as well as the lifting of sanctions that was illegally imposed on Eritrea. The discussion forum was attended by representatives of Eritrean communities in the Scandinavian countries, officials from the Foreign Ministry of Sweden, members of African embassies in Sweden, as well as Eritrean friends and journalists. Asmara, 27 December 2018- Mr. Semere Russom, has presented credentials to President Sahlework Zewde as Eritrea’s Ambassador to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
