Asmara, 31 August 2018- Eritrea Festival 2018 was officially opened by President Isaias Afwerki today, 31 August under the theme, “Peace for Sustainable Development”. The opening ceremony was attended by senior Government and PFDJ officials as well as members of the Diplomatic Corps, invited guests and a number of nationals from all regions of the country.

Senior delegation on working visit to Russia

Asmara, 31 August 2018- Senior Eritrean delegation composed of Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Presidential Advisor Mr. Yemane Gebrab is on a three-day working visit to the Russian Federation.

The delegation met and held talks today, 31 August in Sochi with the Russian Federation Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sergey Lavrov on the development of mutual relations and on issues of interest to both countries.

New Vaccines Introduced

Asmara, 26 August 2018 – The head of vaccination program at the Health Ministry, Mr. Tedros Yihdego, indicated that the Ministry has introduced new vaccines against polio, measles and rubella.

Noting that, since 2002, six types of vaccinations have been provided to children under one year of age, Mr. Tedros said that the number has increased to eleven types over the years and work is being done to add four more vaccines in the near future. Read more

Asmara, 28 August 2018 – The Tigray People’s Democratic Movement (TPDM) has reached an agreement with the government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to continue its movement through peaceful means.

The meeting of the two sides held today, 28 August, in Asmara was attended by an Ethiopian government delegation headed by General Adem Mohammed, Director of the Ethiopian National Intelligence and Security Agency and the Chairman of the TPDM, Mr. Mekonen Tesfai. Read more
