Distinguished Participants of this Congress,
Honourable Invited Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Allow me first to express, at this auspicious moment, my warmest congratulations to all members of the National Confederation of Eritrean Workers (NCEW).

This Congress is taking place, if only by happenstance, at a time when Eritrea has just celebrated the 25th anniversary of its (post-independence) nation building journey.  As such, and even as we pay tribute to the long and proud history of struggle of Eritrean workers, it is imperative and timely to ask what the NCEW has achieved in this past quarter of a century.  Where does the NCEW want to go and how will it proceed in the years ahead? Asmara, 16 March 2017- Eritrea is participating at the 61st Session of the Commission of the Status of Women which is being held from 13 to 24 March in New York City.

Eritrea’s delegation headed by Ms. Tekea Tesfamichael, President of the National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) is participating in the session in which representatives from over 130 countries are taking part. Read more

Asmara, 15 March 2017 – A senior Eritrean delegation comprising Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Advisor Mr. Yemane Gebreab is on a three day working visit to the Kingdom of  Morocco.

The Eritrean delegation met the Moroccan Foreign Minister, Mr. Salehaddin Mzwar and delivered a message from President Isaias Afwerki to King Mohamed the Sixth. Read more

Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Head of PFDJ Political Affairs, said that a political system based on citizenship and an administrative mechanism based on own reality is a vital denominator for building a developed and stable society. He made the remarks at the 7th NCEW Congress underway at Asmara Palace Hotel. Underlining that sustained and organized popular political participation is imperative for building a developed and stable society, he explained that short of popular participation, especially workers and the youth, the struggle for peace and development in Africa could not be realized. Asmara, 20 March 2017- A senior Eritrean delegation comprising Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Advisor Mr. Yemane Gebreab is on a four day official working visit to Egypt.

The Eritrean delegation met the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Mr. Sameh Shukri and discussed on strengthening the existing bilateral ties and particularly in economic, social as well as cultural spheres. Read more
