Commemoration of Operation Fenkil conducted with great patriotic zeal

Asmara, 13 February 2017 – The commemoration of the 27th anniversary of Operation Fenkil, which was held from February 10 to 12 under the theme, “Fenkil: Precursor of the Final Phase” was conducted with enthusiasm.

In the morning hours of February 11, President Isaias Afwerki laid wreath at Tiwalet Monument in connection with the Commemoration of Operation Fenkil. Mr. Alamin Mohammed Seid, Secretary of the PFDJ, General Flipos Weldeyohannes, Chief of Staff of the Eritrean Armed Forces, Ms. Tekea Tesfamichael, Chairwomen of the National Union of Eritrean Women, Ms. Tsigereda Weldegiorgis, Governor of the Northern Red Sea region, and Mr. Kidane Weldesilassie Mayor of Massawa city respectively also laid wreath at the Patriots Monument. Cabinet of Ministers Holds Meeting

Asmara, 10 February 2017 – The Eritrean Cabinet of Ministers held a two-day regular meeting in the port city of Massawa. In the opening session, President Isaias Afwerki presented budgetary priorities for 2017.

In a paper he presented on Wednesday, the President pointed out that budget allocation for this year features among the priorities of the main national programs. President Isaias gave extensive briefing regarding the ongoing salary increment, supply and sustainability of basic consumer goods, provision of adequate and reliable power supply, improving the supply of potable water to villages, cities and semi-urban centers both in quantity and quality, provision of educational and health services, ensuring macro-economic stability, efforts to narrow the gap between import and export, effective tax collection, restructuring government institutions as well as strengthening political and development endeavors.
