President Isaias returns home concluding working visit to UAE

Asmara, 05 January 2017- President Isaias Afwerki returns home today, 05 January, in the morning hours concluding four days working visit to the United Arab Emirates.

In the course of his visit, President Isaias met and held talks on 2 January with Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces on further strengthening the existing good relations between the two countries.

President Isaias and Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also discussed on regional and global issues of mutual interest of the two countries.

NUEW Juba branch holds 1st Congress

Asmara, 05 January 2017- The National Union of Eritrean Women (NUEW) Juba branch held its 1st Congress on 31 December under the theme “Commitment for Strengthening the NUEW Organization in the Diaspora”.

At the congress in which 200 members and invited guests took part, the Eritrean Ambassador to the Republic of South Sudan, Mr. Yohannes Teklemeicael said that strong organization is the foundation for attaining the desired objectives. He also called on the Eritrean women residing in the Republic of South Sudan to reinforce organization and contribute to the national development endeavors. Read more

President Isaias Sends Message to Foreign Leaders

Asmara, 1 January 2017 – President Isaias Afwerki sent a message to several Heads of State and Government on the advent of the New Year once again drawing their attention to continued injustices meted to Eritrea. The President underlined that such indefensible acts not only contravene fundamental tenets of international law and morality but are also fraught with perilous threats to regional peace and security.

Recalling that 14 years have elapsed since the adoption of the Eritrea-Ethiopia Boundary Commission ruling on the border delimitation and demarcation,  the President pointed out that sovereign Eritrean territories still remain under occupation. In this connection, he called on the leaders to ensure the respect of the rule of law. Read more
