Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let me extend my heartfelt appreciation to the people and government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the generous hospitality extended to my delegation since our arrival. I also wish to congratulate the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for its election to chair the Non-Aligned Movement.

Let me also express my delegation’s appreciation to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the outgoing chair of the Coordinating Bureau, for its able leadership in steering the work of our Movement for the last four years. Read more

Eid-Al-Adha celebrated nationwide

Asmara, 12 September 2016 – Eid Al-Adha Al-Mubarek Hejira year 1437 was today celebrated across the nation. The observance at the Bahti Meskerem Square here in the capital was attended by thousands of the faithful.

The Eritrean Mufti, Sheik Al-Amin Osman Al-Amin headed the religious observance. In a message he conveyed on the occasion, Sheik Al-Amin wished the Eritrean people residing inside the country and abroad in general and the followers of the Islamic faith in particular a happy Eid. Read more

12th conference of YPFDJ North America conducted

The 12th conference of the Young People’s Front for Democracy and Justice (YPFDJ) North America was conducted from 2 to 4 September in Washington DC under the theme “Reinforcing Professional and Economic Contribution of the Youth for Sustainable Development and Strengthening International Relations”.

At the conference in which Eritrean youth from the USA, Canada, Europe and Eritrea participated, Ms. Tekea Tesfamicael, Chairperson of the NUEW, Mr. Saleh Ahmedin, Chairman of the NUEYS, as well as heads of the YPFDJ organizations, friends of Eritrea and diplomats attended. Read more

Senior Eritrean Government delegation held talks with German officials

Asmara, 9 September 2016 – Senior Eritrean Government delegation led by Mr. Osman Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Eritrea, held talks with German officials in Berlin. The Eritrean delegation includes Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Head of Political Affairs of PFDJ, and Mr. Gergis Teklemicael, Minister of National Development. The Eritrean Government delegation held talks with the Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development on mutual and bilateral relations and cooperation.

The deliberation with the members of Parliament of Germany was focused on development of mutual relations and economic cooperation.The members of Parliament who attended the meeting and those who visited Eritrea indicated that what they understood from the meeting and their first hand observation during their visit to Eritrea was quite different from what they hear from the mass media reports.
