Most development programs in Central region implemented

Most development programs in Central region implementedMost of the development programs in the Central region have been implemented with the strong participation of the public. That was disclosed at the six months activities assessment meeting conducted on 25 July.

At the assessment meeting in which heads of government and PFDJ officials, administrators and managing directors took part, Maj. Gen. Romodan Osman Awoliai, the Governor of the region, indicated that thanks to the strong participation of the public most of the six months development programs have been implemented. He also gave extensive briefing on the coming six months major development programs.

According to the report presented by the MOA branch in the region, so far 2263 hectares of land have been cultivated and 22465 hectares ready for cultivation. The report further indicated that 1.3 million tree seedlings are ready for planting at 750 hectares of land. Read more

National Secondary School Leaving Examination results announced

The National School Leaving Examination results of the current academic years has been announced today 25 July 2016. According to the report from the Commission for Higher Education Testing Center, 11% of the participants of the national secondary school leaving examination scored results for degree program while 14% are for diploma and 15% secured marks for certificate. All in all, 39% of the students have been promoted to tertiary education.

Covering 14 subjects, the national examination was conducted from 14-19 March 2016 at Warsay Yikealo Secondary School in Sawa, University of Asmara, technical schools of Dembesko, Mai-Habar and Wina, Hagaz Agricltural School, international schools of Eritrean communities in Riyad and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as well as in penitentiary centers in the Central Region.

Senior Eritrean Government delegation conducting working visit to China

Asmara, 21 July 2016- A senior Eritrean Government delegation led by Mr. Hagos Gebrehiwet, head of Economic Affairs of the PFDJ, is conducting a working visit to the People’s Republic of China. The Eritrea delegation includes Mr. Abraha Asfaha, Minister of Public Works, Mr. Berhane Habtemmariam, Minister of Finance, Dr. Gergis Tesfamicael, Minister of National Development, Mr. Semere Russom, Minister of Education and Mr. Arefaine Berhe, Minister of Agriculture.

The senior Eritrean Government delegation held talks with Ms. Xu Lvping, Vice Minister of International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, on strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and other issues of interest to both countries. Read more
