NUEW Delegation Pays Working Visit to China

NUEW Delegation Pays Working Visit to ChinaA senior delegation of the National Union of Eritrea Women (NUEW) led by the President, Mrs. Teka Tesfamichael, paid a working visit to the People’s Republic of China from December 22nd to 27th.

The delegation, that consisted of five members of the Union, met and held talks with Mrs. Meng Shio Si, Vice Chairwomen of All China Women’s Federation (ACWF).  At the meeting, Mrs. Teka Tesfamicael elucidated the overall role of Eritrean women in the nation building process. Mrs. Meng Shio Si for her part affirmed the readiness of the ACWF to re-invigorate the existing ties of cooperation between the two unions.

The NUEW Delegation also visited various cities in the PRC for similar talks with its counterparts.

Funeral Services take place for His Holiness Abune DioskorosA funeral service for the 4th Patriarch of the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church, His Holiness Abune Dioskoros was carried out on Saturday, December 26th following night-long prayers and elaborates religious rituals at Asmara’s Saint Mary Church. On the eve of the burial date, all monasteries in the country conducted religious sermons and prayers in tribute to the Patriarch.

In Asmara, Abune Dioskoros’s remains was escorted by motorcade from his residence to Saint Mary’s Church at 2:00 am on Saturday morning for prayers presided by all the Bishops. Later in the morning, President Isaias Afwerki, Ministers, and other officials and diplomats paid their respects to the deceased and attended the prayer service at St. Mary’s Church. Read more

LE FRUD CONDAMNE LE MASSACRE DE LA COMMUNAUTE YONIS MOUSSALe Front pour la Restauration de l’Unité et la Démocratie –FRUD – condamne avec la plus grande fermeté la tuerie de Balbala, un crime odieux perpétré par les forces de l’ordre à l’encontre de la communauté Yonis Moussa appartenant au clan Issa, qui s’apprêtaient à organiser une cérémonie traditionnelle annuelle.

La police, et la gendarmerie épaulées par des éléments de l’Armée et des agents cagoulés de la milice privée, ont attaqué très violement des civils, très tôt le matin du 21 décembre détruisant tout sur leur passage, tirant à balles réelles sur des personnes présentes pacifiquement pour des activités culturelles à Buldugo à Balbala.(faubourg de Djibouti) Le bilan est extrêmement lourd, 19 personnes tuées par balles et 150 blessées. PDF
