Houthi Envoy? Iranian Base? Deliberate Disinformation on EritreaConcerted and deliberate disinformation on Eritrea have ratcheted up these days for reasons that are not difficult to figure out. The main culprits are certain intelligence agencies masquerading as independent think tanks and their TPLF (Ethiopian) minions.

The latest planted story is the purported visit of a Houthi delegation to Eritrea. The purpose of this disinformation ploy is to insinuate links with Iran.

Iran has Embassies in Djibouti, Ethiopia and the Republic of Sudan. It has also considerable investments and trade relations with these countries. Read more

UNODC launches new global initiative to boost criminal justice responses to foreign terrorist fighters

Valletta/Horna-Vienna | The growing involvement of individuals as Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTF) in various conflicts and terrorist activities has resulted in an increasingly dangerous threat to international peace and security. In response, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has launched a new initiative aimed at bolstering countries’ criminal justice responses to this phenomenon. The initiative, which runs to 2019, will assist Member States in criminalizing the FTF phenomenon, in areas such as terrorist recruitment, incitement to terrorism, terrorism financing, and terrorist training, among others.
