Responding to Rice Claims: Foreign Ministry Affirms that Rebel movements Are Instigating Dispute and Impeding Humanitarian AidKhartoum, June 26 (SUNA)- The government pointed out that the humanitarian situation in South Kordofan and the Blue Nile States is generally witnessing no problems, excluding at limited areas under the control of the rebel movements which have impeded implementation of the tripartite initiative for delivering humanitarian aid to the affected citizens at these areas, referring in this connection to a testimony given in this regard by the Assistant UN Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, Valerie Amos. July 2011 – The United Nations today declared a famine in two regions of southern Somalia owing to the worst drought in decades, and appealed for urgent resources to assist millions of people in desperate need of help.“Every day of delay in assistance is literally a matter of life or death for children and their families in the famine-affected areas,” said Mark Bowden, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Somalia.
