Candlelight parade conducted on eve of Martyrs Day by nationals here and abroadAsmara, 20 June 2013 – Nationals here in the Homeland and abroad conducted candlelight parade on the eve of Martyrs Day honoring the weighty tribute of fallen heroes.

The parade in Asmara which was staged along the Liberation Avenue witnessed participation of senior government and PFDJ officials as well as tens of thousands of city residents. Read more

 Nationals in the Homeland and abroad commemorate Martyrs Day with patriotic zealAsmara, 20 June 2013 – Nationals in the Homeland and abroad today commemorate Martyrs Day with patriotic zeal.

During the official ceremony in Asmara at national level, President Isaias Afwerki, Ministers, Army Commanders, Senior PFDJ Officials, religious leaders and thousands of participants conducted foot trek from Shida Square to the Martyrs Cemetery at 6 AM accompanied by the Marching Band.

President Isaias, Gen. Sibhat Ephrem, Defense Minister, Mr. Al-Amin Mohammed Seid, Secretary of the PFDJ, and the Administrator of the Central region, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, laid flower coronets at the Cemetery.

Speaking on the occasion, President Isaias expressed appreciation for the people and the national media outlets for demonstrating the prevailing honor of the martyrs through staging different activities. Read more

President holds talks with Rwandan delegationAsmara, 19 June 2013 – President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks with a Rwandan delegation headed by Mr. Joseph Karemera, member of the Executive Committee of the Rwandan Patriotic Front and Chairman of the country’s Assembly.

In the course of the meeting, Mr. Joseph delivered a message from Rwandan President Paul Kagame expressing his country’s readiness to work jointly with Eritrea as regards bilateral, regional and international issues. Read more

Eritrean community members in Milan and environs commemorate Martyrs Day with patriotic zealAsmara, 18 June 2013 – Eritrean community members in the Italian city of Milan and its environs commemorated Martyrs Day with patriotic zeal. The nationals reiterated readiness to honor the trust of fallen heroes during the event that witnessed candlelight parade.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Michael Isaac, chairman of the community, pointed out that the event is an occasion during which nationals should reiterate their readiness to care for the families of martyrs. Similarly, Mr. Rusom Gebregiorgis, Eritrea’s Consul General in Milan, indicated that the event is an occasion during which nationals should reiterate their commitment to the nation-building process, and called on the community members to mount staunch resistance against anti-Eritrea agendas.
