As the flagrant invasion over Eritrea, which was carried on from May 1998 to June 2000, was dealt a blowing re-buff, it is to be noted that a comprehensive peace agreement aimed at resolving the alleged border dispute was concluded in December 2000 in Algiers. The Algiers Agreement was reached following the mediation by representatives of the international community–the United Nations and African Union–to which the US Administration, the European Union and the Government of Algeria are signatory guarantors for the said accord to enter into effect. Eritrea condemns Canadian’s expulsion of the Eritrean Consul General
Eritrea condemns in the strongest terms the Canadian Government’s expulsion of the Eritrean Consul General in Toronto.
Eritrea states categorically that the services it renders through its Consulate General are fully consistent with the Vienna Conventions on Consular Relations and do not violate international or Canadian laws.
It considers the expulsion as an unwarranted escalation of the Canadian administration’s hostility to Eritrea and its harassment of the Eritrean Diaspora community. It is the act of a bully against a small and proud nation and its people and is aimed at denying the Eritrean community the services that they need from their government. Read more

The celebrations witnessed participation of more nationals and friends, besides the staging of cultural, sports, artistic and fashion show, among others.
