1,193 postgraduate and undergraduate students graduate from EIT

1,193 postgraduate and undergraduate students graduate from EITAsmara, 4 July 2013 – A total of 1,193 students who have been attending diverse postgraduate and undergraduate courses at the Eritrea Institute of Technology (EIT) graduated today.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of Education, Mr. Semere Russom, said that the nation’s huge investment towards nurturing reliable human capital has made remarkable impact in development. He further indicated that the ongoing endeavors on the part of the people and government as regards equipping youths with the necessary knowledge and skills is a blessing to the members of the graduating class and their parents.

Mr. Semere went on to explain that higher educational institutions nationwide are in a position to witness excellence and significant potential for the future in line with the endeavors exerted over the past 10 years. He also called on the graduates to focus on career development and mount staunch resistance against external conspiracies.

Also speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tesfamichael Haile, Vice-President of the EIT, pointed out that that the government has been investing heavily in the Institute with a view to expanding its all-round capacity, and that subsequently it is in a position to demonstrate academic standards at international level. Moreover, he disclosed that the Institute has sent a number of nationals abroad for further studies vis-à-vis the postgraduate programs it has been launching through internal capacity, giving rise to 11 Masters-level graduates.

A representative of the graduates expressed his colleagues’ readiness to back up national development programs.

The present batch comprises 11 Masters, 403 Bachelor’s degree and 698 Diploma graduates.
